To the editor: Many years of analysis have proven that residing inside just a few kilometers of an airport may cause well being issues, notably affecting respiratory and coronary heart well being. The issue is that until residing near an airport is prohibited, folks residing in communities adjoining to the airport will probably be vulnerable to the problems recognized. (“Does Hollywood love Burbank airport? Attempt residing beneath its flight paths,” Opinion, December 15)
There are almost 20,000 airports in the US. The notion that nobody can reside inside a number of kilometers of an airport is neither attainable, sensible nor even fascinating.
Most of us have compassion for folks experiencing homelessness, however we do not need shelters in our neighborhoods. We reject unaffordable housing prices, however we do not need inexpensive housing constructed subsequent to us – and we do not need any zoning modifications both.
Op-ed columnist Julia Bricklin would not need reminders of the air pollution brought on by planes flying over her head in Studio Metropolis. Whereas I’ve advocated closing Hollywood Burbank Airport to flights earlier within the day, for elevated security and air rules, and for “cleaner” gasoline, this concept of not permitting planes to fly over Studio Metropolis brings “not in my yard” to new heights (pun supposed).
Fish should swim. The planes should fly. The place would Bricklin need them to fly? Over another person’s home?

To the editor: I really feel Bricklin’s ache.
I’ve lived in Benedict Canyon for 45 years in a stunning mountain setting. I awoke one morning to search out that my home had been swept up in the course of the evening and fell proper subsequent to the Hollywood Burbank Airport, similar to Dorothy’s home in “The Wizard of Oz.”
Besides this is not a Technicolor dream. It is a nightmare.
From about 7 am, low-flying industrial jets consistently roar above me, many so low that I can clearly see each element on the underside of those planes. They announce themselves with a low roar that begins to bounce off the canyon partitions and builds to a climax as they move straight overhead, spitting poisonous waste as they go.
Whereas the Hollywood Burbank Airport is miles away, you’d by no means understand it inside my home. It is ridiculous to fly over a mountain vary and really lose altitude when going full throttle. This defies logic – until we as soon as once more see company greed overhead, by some means “saving” gasoline whereas we disrupt and poison society beneath.
My Benedict Canyon group was given no warning, no alternative to have any enter or say in these life-changing modifications. I will change my handle to Hollywood Burbank Airport as a result of apparently that is the place I reside now.
