To the editor: Let’s be clear – any type of sexual misconduct is unacceptable. As California State College’s new Chancellor and as Chair of the Board of Trustees, we’re dedicated to working with state legislators and leaders throughout the CSU system to make the adjustments essential to rework our Title IX and different anti-discrimination insurance policies and procedures. (“Sexual abuse scandals rock this California college system. Prime leaders escape scrutiny,” December 14)
In March 2022, on the path of the trustees, CSU started a complete Title IX evaluation to make sure the well being, security and welfare of our college students, college and workers. The report, compiled independently by the legislation agency Cozen O’Connor, makes suggestions for enhancements at each the campus and system ranges.
No different college has so transparently carried out a Title IX overview on this scale. Almost 18,000 members of the college neighborhood participated within the survey. We at the moment are positioned to behave as a nationwide exemplar for creating greatest practices and piloting new methods of reporting, investigating and adjudicating allegations.
We’ll transcend what’s required by legislation and take a holistic method that features prevention, supportive care and restorative justice. Our focus is on making a significant path ahead, based mostly on the previous, the Cozen O’Connor Report and the State Audit, for the advantage of all we serve and make use of.
