Internationally acclaimed and extensively translated Greek creator Vassilis Vassilikos, a former member of parliament and ambassador of Greece to UNESCO, died on the age of 89, it was introduced on Thursday.
Vassilikos was one among Greece’s most prolific writers, publishing greater than 100 works of literature, together with novels, performs and poetry, and his works had been extensively translated into many languages.

He was greatest identified for the political novel ‘Z‘, which was translated into 32 languages and later tailored because the award-winning movie ‘Z’ directed by Costas-Gavras and with music by Mikis Theodorakis.
Due to his political actions, he was compelled into exile for seven years after the 1967 coup.
From 1981 to 1984, he served as director of the Greek state tv channel and served as Greece’s ambassador to UNESCO since 1996.
Vassilis Vassilikos was elected MP for the left wing SYRIZA in 2019.
