Re: “Fights escape as stress rises in Congress” [Nov. 15, Nation & World]:
It’s disheartening, even disgusting, to witness the schoolyard bully conduct of a few of the individuals elected to do the need of the individuals in Congress.
Individuals who have been elected to serve the general public good have an obligation to exemplify civility, courtesy to at least one one other, civil decency and kindness. What we’ve got seen sends a message to our youngsters that such conduct is permitted, even more and more anticipated.
However we’ve got a selection: Vote them out of workplace. It is no shock that our elected officers, who adhere to the essential ideas of decency and respect, develop uninterested in the mess in Washington, DC, and resolve to not run for Congress once more (eg, US Rep. Derek Kilmer , D-Gig Harbor). And that’s each unhappy and scary.
